Do you remember where you were on September 11th 2001? Cliff and Jane Evans will never forget, not only because of the tragic events that struck the US on that fatal day, but also because it was at that time that they met Godwin Kilele and his family - people who were to touch their lives in a very special and long-standing way.

Over the next two years Cliff and Kilele became very close despite the distance between them (Cliff lives in Reading England, and Kilele in Sagalla Kenya) and in 2003 Cliff was honoured when Kilele and Grace (Kilele's wife) named their third child after him.

Through Kilele’s eyes Cliff began to share in the joys and heartbreaks of life (and death) in Kilele’s community, and in August 2005 they decided to form the Kileva Foundation to provide support and encouragement to local children and their families.

The First Meeting

The Proposals

Over the coming months Cliff & Kilele discussed proposals for the Foundation, then in February 2006 Cliff and Jane visited the community to discuss the proposals in person with Kilele and local officials, and to be best man and lady at their wedding.

The Foundation

The work to be done is daunting. However as one of the school officials put it, whilst no one person can move a mountain, imagine what could be achieved if every person moved just one stone.

Although the whole community dream of a better life, their dreams will only come true if we also lend a helping hand. So please take a look at the Kileva Gifts page and see if you can help Kilele and his people to make their dreams come true.
